Our story
Heiwa House started as a dream to create more than just a surf house—a place that feels like home. After years of running surf camps and renting spaces, it was time to build something permanent. Months of searching and a shared vision led us to the perfect location. A love for surfing, yoga, design, and good vibes helped shape the space into something truly special. Now, Heiwa House is the ultimate adult playground—a place to surf, relax, connect, and just enjoy life.
Location
We are located just outside of Santa Cruz, with beautiful cliffs and sandy beaches only a 15-minute walk away. The town is a 15-minute bike ride, and it’s just a 30-minute drive to Ericeira or Peniche, opening up a range of good and epic waves for keen surfers. Lisbon Airport is just 50 minutes away, and Lisbon city center is only an hour. When it comes to location, it doesn’t get much better than this.
The House
We are improving our house day by day. So far, we have furnished four cozy bedrooms—a dorm and three private rooms with bathrooms. There’s a room available for use as a co-working space and a comfortable lounge area with a sofa where you can relax and watch surf movies.
Right next to the house, you’ll find a large swimming pool with sun chairs for lounging. We also have a board storage room, a wetsuit washing and drying station, and an outdoor shower. If you need gear, we rent surfboards too.
Our facilities include a guest kitchen, an outdoor grill, a laundry room, a mini gym, electronic darts, table tennis, and table football. We love music and hope you do too! If you play any instruments, we’d be honored to have a jam session with you using our little collection of instruments at the house.
As a special treat, you’ll have the opportunity to meet our two resident cats, Bri and Lulu.
Skatepark
We started building the skatepark the day we moved in— even before working on the rooms! What we created exceeded our expectations. The skatepark consists of a bowl and a mini ramp.
The bowl was designed with surf-skating in mind, but everyone seems to enjoy it. We made it long enough for a smooth, flowing experience (23m x 8m).
The mini ramp is perfect for both beginners and experienced skaters. It is 8 meters wide and 1.10 meters high, with an extension reaching 1.60 meters. The ramp is connected to the bowl, allowing for fun transitions between the two.
Yoga Dome
Created and nurtured by our in-house yogi, Buka, this place is definitely magical. It’s a space to connect with yourself—your body and mind. We invite you to use it and respect it. You can also sign up for yoga or other spiritual practices.
Sauna
The sauna is deeply rooted in our culture, so we brought this tradition with us to Portugal. We love it because it boosts your immunity, provides a deep sense of relaxation, relieves muscle tension, and helps you sleep like a baby 🙂 We invite you to share this experience with us.
